It seems like Chris Jones was preaching to the choir. It encourages me that there is a choir; I only wish it were larger.

This post had/has me on the edge of my seat, heart in my throat. Thanks for sharing the land where you live, Mary, where there is "a good start." What will our kind choose? Can we learn to see more clearly, widely and wisely?

I hope we can. Chris is helping ignite an interest in transforming the landscape. He has brought the water issue to the public in an intelligent, informative way.

REALLY good, Mary. It is so encouraging to see a whole community embracing a land ethic that does not destroy the environment. With care for those in poverty and wholehearted support for the birds. Let there be light!

Chris is carrying the message, the rest of us have to take action. It’s very difficult when the iowa farm bureau owns the state and the legislature. We are captive to industrial agri business unless we can convince the rest of Iowa that we deserve clean water and a lifestyle that protects us from cancer causing chemicals.

Jones is so right AND it’s the entire food system. It’s not just the outputs (i.e. nutrients) that are the problem. It’s also the wasteful misuse of acres for monocultures, pesticides, and hydrologic alterations that a causing death by a thousand cuts. https://www.3billionbirds.org/
