Happy Aniversary (2024) and an Invitation to the Office Lounge!
Two years ago I began Mary Swander’s Buggy Land. Julie Gammack, our grand leader of the Iowa Writers Collaborative, called me and had me click here, then there, and I was up! I didn’t exactly know what I was supposed to be doing, but it all sounded good. A direct conduit to my readers. No waiting a year or more for publication. No surprises. And so, I began my journey. And you responded. Your comments allowed me to see my way, and the material I should develop. I’ve loved being in touch with my readers and getting your comments and feedback.
Your financial support has been a real boost. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help. All your paid subscriptions go to AgArts, a non-profit designed to imagine and promote healthy food systems through the arts. AgArts creates Farm-to-Artist residencies where artists and farmers dialogue with each other, helping to mend the urban/rural divide. During the past two years, your support has created artist residencies on farms from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, to the Iowa Driftless, to the Whiterock Conservancy, to the Nebraska plains.
Your paid subscription also opens the door to the Iowa Writers Collaborative Office Lounge. You get the perk. Once a month, we writers hang out with our readers, talk about current events and answer your questions. It’s great fun! Our next meeting is Friday, August 30, 2024 at noon CDT. I hope to see you there!
